What can we say about the fuel tank. Let's put it this way first. The original cover it replaced on the 2007 VW Jetta GLI did the job perfectly. Turn. Open. Hang from a rope that looks like an umbilical cord. Repeat for 7 years. Then the light went on. Teases me with its amber hue. Tell me about "problems" with my trusty gas cap. Gossip that the cap and I aren't as friendly as we used to be. This print was not included. I had some problems. So I replaced the cap with this Gates cap. The Gates cap was a mundane purchase made by people with a thick chin and an indifferent attitude during hard times. I ordered, removed the original plug and screwed in the Gates block. It's wearable. It worked. Life has returned to a simpler time. Until the light comes on. again. I was shocked. He took off the cap, cleaned the filler neck and cursed the sky. The light is gone. while i feel I don't blame the Gates 31613 gas cap: this is a well-made unit from a company that has a broad reputation for manufacturing quality products. I suspect the original cap wasn't to blame either, as I'm amazed at the caustic German tyranny of motor controls designed and implemented by people in khakis walking to work in long jigsaw puzzles. I'm afraid Jetta can't be trusted in this business. I kept the original cover - I'm having a hard time tearing myself away from the situation. You should buy this fuel cap if it really suits your car. Check it out first before buying. Be kind to the less fortunate.
