I have 3 cats that almost fight over who can scratch them and even sleep on it. The mat itself is actually very durable, especially with my 3 cats who seem to scratch it almost all day every day. I have to suck it up because they lie and rub it all over. It came with the catnip that I sprinkled in this notebook. What I love about this rug is that my cats can lie on either side and scratch. One side is completely flat while the other has a wavy design. I've found that when my cats turn over every few days, they scratch both sides. However, when lying down, my cats prefer the wavy side, but they scratch on both sides. Even after a month of constant scratching, this notebook still looks great and has many more areas to scratch. It also doesn't fall apart easily.
