Radon detection is very unreliable (updated on 01/30/2021)

Updated on 01/30/2021 The accuracy of the radon detection and the response of the production service is a big problem for this product. airthing's customer service deliberately diverts customers' attention. Having purchased 2 RadonEye units in November 2020, the facts on radon detection are now clear after 2 years of Airthings service diversion. 2 RadonEye not only provides a reading every 10 minutes, but the readings are very close together and have very similar trends when placed in 1 place. While my 3 specially assembled Airthings not only provide very different radon readings at the moment, but also very different short-medium-long term trends occurring in 3 different locations. Airthings radon devices can't give you a decent deal in the 30-365 day range so why not upgrade to a $15 radon detection kit? I bought my Corentium in February 2017 and Wave Plus in December 2018. The devices confused me shortly after my second Radon Airthings device was introduced. So I start checking the ventilation, hoping to see a drop in radon levels after a few hours of basement ventilation. However, a renewed decrease after ventilation was not observed. Then I called customer service, they are misinformed and each time gave a new explanation with the aim that the product is good. They said a margin of error of 2 weeks should be consistent with a long-term follow-up of 1 year. I bought another Wave plus in January 2020... 12 months have passed... 2 Wave Plus shows identical readings and trends for all other sensors except radon. Match 3 radon records together, here are 3 very different trends 48 hours - 2 weeks - 1 year, with a difference of about 30% - 80%. Customer service from the head office said it was fine. The situation changed after the introduction of another brand of radon devices. In November 2020 I bought my first RadonEye which reads every 10 minutes and the first good sign is that it is responding to my breath test in a recognizable pattern. In December 2020 I bought another RadonEye to compare their readings. Wow, they gave the same or very similar 7 day average and the first 30 day average is 0.08 pCi/L, a difference of 3 Bq/m3. Note that the setup uses 2 unit systems and 1 pCi/L = 37 Bq/m3. If you get numbers out of range, please check the unit and change it in settings. I am really ashamed of Airthings attitude towards facts and their promises. Airthings abbreviates its trademarks due to the publication of an incorrect standard statement. The 2 stars relate to the other 5 sensors, temperature, barometric pressure, volatile organic compounds, CO2 and humidity. Note that atmospheric pressure is closely related to radon levels. I hope my review can help some people. First Review Below October 2019 ---------------------------------- How accurate is this? There is no certainty. Can you check the reading while you are away from home? No you can not. In fact, Airthings can improve them with a little effort, which I believe will lead to higher sales and better profits. I have had an Airthings 223 hand held radon detector for 1.5 years and a Wave for historical graphing purposes for 10 months. In the first few months, both Wave and 223 showed the same 7-day value. The 223 appears to be about 15-24 hours late and the Wave is 3-4 hours late. I obtained 223 hours of continuous data with a webcam recorder and compared their peak data timing and also compared peak wave data to ventilation timing. But this is painstaking work, and the idea is just an impression. After 2 Wave firmware updates, Wave readings increased by 1/4 with each update. Thus, the problem of accuracy arises. I do not know what's up. I seem to need short term and long term test maintenance. Incidentally, radon values and air pressure values tend to be opposites. Air pressure is closely related to precipitation. In fact, Airthings can easily enhance the user experience with a Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth connection, allowing automatic data collection and unlimited access to website data even when you're out of town for a long time. I've tried placing a separate smartphone next to the Wave for continuous data collection, but the Airthings app can't keep the Wave connected at all times unless you manually turn on Bluetooth throughout the day. If anyone can solve the problem, please leave me a message, thanks.
