I had one of these at my previous job, provided by my employer. In fact, it worked very well with Microsoft Lync technology. It was tightly integrated and worked well for conferencing. I'm starting to think this device is best avoided unless you use Lync exclusively. (For me and many of my former colleagues, however, those things have died out intermittently. I think my employer replaced some of them.) Fast-forward a few months and I'm starting to use Skype a lot more. .I remembered this Polycom device that works hands-free and allows me to walk across the room and keep talking without the people on the other end noticing. In short, I wasn't happy with my decision to buy one of these for use with Skype. I have a lot of echo issues and often end calls if I'm not constantly using the mute button. I also can't get up and walk around the room like I can with Lync. I have to stay in my chair two feet from this thing. I could very well buy a much cheaper wired headset if I had to stay in my chair. If you're not a Microsoft Lync/Communicator user, think twice about this speakerphone from Polycom. You may not get the quality you're used to with the Polycom speakers you see constantly in conference rooms. I've had enough call quality issues with this thing that I almost gave up. I only wish I had resolved this before my review deadline. I think my next step is to pay again for a wireless headset that specifically claims to work well with Skype. Skype-to-Skype, one-on-one, everything is fine. However, when dialing a phone number or participating in a group call, you are likely to experience call quality issues.
