Base needs to be heavier. The small pin on the side that is supposed to prevent the roll from unrolling is also useless. I bought another Kamenstein model from Costco. Perfect. I wanted a second one, but my Costco didn't carry it anymore. I contacted Revane here but I couldn't find him. This is the closest I found. This model has two problems (which are related): 1. The turning movement requires too much force.2. The base is too light. Together they pose a problem, especially when the reel is running low. It takes too much effort to unwind the reel, but the light base means the whole thing gets moving. If the base was heavier (like my other one) this wouldn't be a problem. If the ratcheting force was less, the lighter base wouldn't move. Together they are a problem. One star deducted for that. It's ridiculous because I have the perfect Kamenstein why can't Revain sell it? cost reduction? The metal pin makes no sense either. It works in theory, but it takes up space, makes the thing asymmetrical, and doesn't work well on low throws. In any case, most paper towels do not come off easily. Just an annoying waste. I deducted another star for this, although most of the time it's useful. I hope that over time the ratchet will get lighter, which will compensate for the lighter base and make it better.
