While looking for an alternative to this cover, I found some sort of "remote" volume control, which is located on the outside the "lip" " around the screen. When I tested these remote control buttons, they worked great and I was able to take screenshots and turn off the power with ease. So BIG change in my score (from 2 to 4) because I really like the color, the outer paper case and the padding I'm sure it will help protect the iPad. "Lip" that holds it securely and allows you to stow the pen in the position where it is loaded. "Lip" surrounds the entire screen. I have cut outs for charging etc. That's right, the power button is recessed and a bit tricky (but not impossible) to turn on and off - you just need to tackle it at the right angle. And now I notice that the volume controls on the side of the iPad above the pen holder are accessible from the outside of the screen bezel. (That means you don't have to lift the corner of the iPad out from under the lid to get to the volume up button.) Now that I've figured out how to access the volume buttons, I'm happy with this purchase and think that it will be exactly what I need.
