Refill was made in China. This boot is just made of a different material. It's soft rubber, not the harder plastic OEM version. Because it is soft, it does not retain its shape and is deformed at the turns, so that the outer large coil almost rests on the outer bar and, in the presence of an outer metal clip, rubs the ears of the clip with the risk that it breaks completely. It can be a good and durable product, I'm not sure because I haven't kept it for long. But assuming the regular boot costs even less, and maybe a little more if you add new clips, there's little point in buying a significantly different replacement. I googled soft rubber boots and people say they are not as durable as plastic boots. But I haven't experienced it myself.
