I have mixed feelings about this switch, on the one hand it's quite a nice switch, the capacitive touch surface works very smoothly and is very sensitive to touch, the installation and pairing was very easy, I used the Elgato Eve app to pair and at home the app recognized the configuration immediately so far so good. What I don't really like now is that sometimes it's very fast, but sometimes it takes about 5 or 7 seconds to turn it on or off (although it's more responsive than unresponsive). Think you have to take into account that bluetooth is used to connect (you can't get the best of both worlds here) as it's bluetooth, doesn't require a hub like wifi, but limits the range of this switch, I can achieve a range of up to 1520 meters in a clear, open area, but with the door closed it takes 25 meters to answer, which means when I'm outside in my car (street door and room door closed) and is 10 meters away impossible to get it to answer, it's more energy efficient than WiFi, but it sacrifices range. Another thing they could improve is that the app doesn't logically detect the state of the switch, meaning the app can tell you if the lights are on or off, yes! but if you have a scene , like when I get home, they turn on a light, and if the light is already on, I expect it to stay on, but the application just sends a signal to change the current state, which means that, if the light is on and I command the light to be on, it turns off (logical error! T and T = F). (ERROR FIXED AFTER FIRMWARE UPDATE) UPDATE April 2019 After 2 years and almost 5 months the switch died due to lifespan which means it cost me $22.20 a year considering the Switch was only $3 and can last up to 20 years (15 cents each). year), Elgato needs to improve its living standard to at least 5 years, of course we are talking about technical equipment here, but I have some equipment, like my old DVD which has been under water for 14 years and still works today, I think Elgato can do better work as 2.4 years. Another thing from Elgato: After updating the firmware, they solve the problem with some logical errors. Finally, the first year was fine in my experience, but after that sometimes these changes become an utter pain. (60% of the time), response times took up to 1 minute and sometimes not responding at all, even after a manual reset, still unsure if this is due to the home kit app or the hardware I have 3 (works now 2) switch and all have the same behavior. Now I will try TP-Link WiFi Switch hoping it is a more reliable and responsive switch.
