This is designed to reduce (not eliminate) static electricity on surfaces, but you must pull and release the trigger EXTREMELY slowly to get maximum benefit. A good general rule is to count to "5 Mississippi" for both the draw and the release. I've been testing a few new records that seem to have a lot of static - enough to cause the hairs on my arms to stand up when pulled out of my sleeve (yes, I'm hairy). After 4 shocks on each side (noon, 3, 6, 9) the static electricity was noticeably reduced. I also tested the plastic cover of the turntable and found significantly less dust deposits - I now clean the cover weekly. Time will tell how long this takes, but the packaging says 50,000 pulls, which with 8 pulls to record is over 6,000 records.
