So my son refuses to wear a hood on his jackets - obviously lava. But that! He is almost 2 years old and after an initial electrocution on his head he decided he liked it. This naturally gives him something to chew on, like the part that sits just above his mouth. He wears it though, it keeps him warm and protected from harsh winds without constricting. We liked it so much that the rest of the adults in the family ordered them (appropriate sizes of course, so another list). All in all a great product for the money. The laces are a quick way to tighten the balaclava, but we haven't done that with my son. It's great for the playground, especially in the kindergarten. Don't worry the hood or hat will fall off while the kids are playing outside.
