I had a few problems with this cable. I've used 3 of these, all as accessory wires for my car, and they all failed within 3-8 months. For the longest lasting one I made sure it lasted a long time and had problems in the last third of its life. Longevity is definitely poor, usually showing joint issues and degrading audio quality before eventually dying. The remote control is only good for button and mute. The button is fine, but the volume slider just toggles on or off even though it's a slider. Trying to move somewhere in between will result in uneven volume or a static sound. For all functions to work, the L end of the plug must be connected to a phone and the straight end to an audio device. Otherwise, it's just a low-quality, run-of-the-mill aux cable. All in all, this is probably your best bet for a built-in remote aux cable (unless you have the ability to make your own). I've tried several others, they all suffer from similar issues and the quality is always poor. I'd say buy it if you really need the functionality, but if you don't need it buy a regular aux or maybe try a bluetooth adapter.
