Review on Scepter 12 Gallon Marine Fuel Tank 08668, Red: Reliable and Efficient Fuel Storage Solution for Boaters by Jonny Dogruyol

Have fun shopping! for workshop and shop

I bought this tank for our pontoon boat. The 12 gallon capacity is large compared to the standard 6, which requires constant refilling. The only issue I had was the EPA gas cap. As everyone already knows, these tanks create pressure on the sun. I tried the traditional lid and left the vent open all the time, but was definitely losing fuel to evaporation and worried about rainwater getting in, so I went back to the evaporative lid. Well the weak link in the system in terms of pressure build up is definitely the quick connect marine hoses. I arrived on my boat and found fuel splattering everywhere from the quick disconnects I've used to connect the fuel hose directly to the tank since some sort of hardware store fitting [1/4 brass pipe thread with 3/8 barbed nipple and clamps] Now the tank is up in the hot sun, is pressurized as usual but no longer leaking and I'm enjoying the extra capacity. As added after reflection. My engine is fuel injected and I finished the summer with no problems. However, I would not dare use this tank with a carbureted engine as the pressure buildup in the tank and plumbing can cause the carburetors to flood. Don't say it's going to happen, just keep an eye out in the hot sun!

Cons
