ABSOLUTELY AWESOME - A way to increase internal lighting maybe a hundred times (MUCH, anyway) - ACCEPT THESE identically shaped ones LED adapters for stock interior lighting bulbs are ALL disappointing and RECOGNIZE that some creativity may be required in the placement of the LED grid - perhaps even (at one extreme - later) the installation of an adhesive backed mesh - to which a thin, slightly inch long wire attached is standard lamp connector, so placement is easy and flexible. The light curtains are low profile, strong and large (see specifications) but the LEDs are mounted on an adhesive backed circuit board and are otherwise unprotected. This means they require the same care as a felt headliner or fabric seat back. I would not touch the fabric headliner or fabric seatback with wet or dirty hands (and will try to avoid unnecessary contact anyway), nor would I recommend touching the light curtain in these conditions. And when your hands are wet and the lights are on, the 12V you might be tapping into can be a nuisance (or worse). It's bright. The Forester's interior is reminiscent of parts of an airport or a sports arena lit up by late-night games. We love it. The interior lighting designers for the rear of the cargo area either didn't understand or just couldn't feel the love that seems to have designed the rest of the car. The light on the back of the cargo area of my 2016 Forester was so dim and the tiny size of the light (so no substitute bright enough to make a real difference could fit the mini light without melting) makes it look like it The only reasonable explanation is that it is intended for military use by personnel wearing night vision goggles which would be blinded by more than 5 lux. So I knew I couldn't get the mesh into the mount, but the long wire did. Easy to stick on the plate next to the lamp. Then, because it's also incredibly disappointing, there are NO LIGHTS on the other side of the rear compartment, on the rear headliner, or on the inside of the tailgate. So, with only one place to upgrade with no wiring, I decided to connect the second LED grid to the power wire from the first one I had installed there. NOW the rear cargo area looks more like a night sports field with one-way lighting. Pretty happy.
