Review on Optimized Waterpik Ultra Cordless Plus Water Flosser WP450 - 1 ea by Kelsey Brown

After using the big Waterpik Ultra (model WP-100) for several years and getting great results I decided to buy it for my husband. I chose this one because his bathroom is small and this model is quite compact, plus he travels a lot so he also liked the idea of being wireless and portable. I bought it last December (2012) as a Christmas present. The first issue with this model is the capacity, which is about half that of the regular model. This is fine for a quick crawl, but not for a deep clean. To do this, you must fill it. But the real problem with this model is that you can't empty the tank. After using, you can shake out the excess water, but you can't shake it out completely and water drops will remain in the tank. Over time, black mold will form on the bottom and walls of the tank. When we first discovered this, I tried putting all sorts of thin things through the small hole to get to the shape and erase it, but nothing could reach all areas of the tank's interior. I ended up soaking it in highly concentrated white vinegar overnight. Then I used a folded paper towel and stuck it in the tank, took a chopstick and tried rubbing the crumpled paper towel to clean the inside. There are areas on the front of the tank that cannot be reached and are therefore riddled with black mold. Lots of time and frustration. This model is poorly constructed. You should be able to snap off the bottom of the tank to dry it thoroughly after each use, or Waterpik should provide a flexible brush that can be inserted into the tank to give it a thorough cleaning. I give up! I just ordered another WP-100 for my husband. I'm not sure what I'll do with it as it's been 8 months since I received it and I can't return it to Revain. I don't recommend this model, but I do recommend larger models. .
