Works very well, requires some patience/reading.

This is a great device - instead of buying a USB player or fumbling with cables in your existing stereo, it allows you to record vinyl (and cassettes, although I haven't) straight to yours PC sound card or laptop. I plugged it into my amp's headphone jack and my laptop's USB port and everything worked very smoothly. There is one complaint here about the small disc that comes with the unit - you don't need it so throw it away. It contains a very old version of a program called Audacity, which is a great and free audio recording/editing tool. Download the latest version instead (google it). Instructions supplied with the device also useful. if you have a magnifying glass to read them with. Audacity has a great online guide that will solve most problems if you actually use it. People here who say the software is difficult to use must either not be able or willing to read. This may require some tweaking, just like Windows sound settings, but it's all covered in the Audacity manual. Audacity can export to WAV - you should use this instead of the lossy MP3 format (useful only for phones and portable players) if you want to get digital LP broadcasts. You can use Audacity to cut the recording into separate tracks, if you want - it's easy. There are other sound recording programs (e.g. Vinyl Studio) that can do it for you, but they aren't free. All in all, this is an amazing device. Value for a low price. Audacity has a great online guide that will solve most problems if you actually use it.
