Review on Pyle 200W Audio Stereo Receiver by Brandon Woodson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

User manual Very bad

The item was well packed, no damage. I quickly read the manual, as I do with all products, before setting it up. This left a lot to be desired. No problem setting up iPod playback through the rear AUX jacks as I already had the required RCA cable for this connection. The device drives my Bose 101 speakers with no problems and good sound. I then used the mode switch to switch to FM radio. Silent! There's not much of a pluggable FM antenna, and there's no way for the unit to plug in a longer antenna like an old TV's cord. Incidentally, the best antenna in the world. After an hour of frustration I was about to reassemble it to return when I discovered that FM radio playback required the input switch to be in the MP3/BT position. This information is not intuitive and not included in the manual. I can pick up strong FM stations, but the device's antenna doesn't pick up the weak stations we're used to. If there is a way to connect an extension cord to the antenna I haven't found it as it is fully insulated with a loop on the end for hanging. There are no further instructions on setting up resets for FM stations. Apparently they are installed internally if you are looking for an FM channel. If there is a way to tune stations to a preset number of your choice, I haven't found it. Don't try to memorize the preset numbers of your favorite stations as they will change when you search again depending on the atmospheric conditions at the time. Very bad function. You must have the remote handy as this is the only way to select a preset station. When you turn off the device, you think that the settings remain the same as when you turned them on again. NOT CORRECT! The default is "No disk, please add disk", a feature we will never use. You have to press the mode button to switch to FM radio if you don't want to play your iPod through the AUX outputs. The input selector switch is small and requires considerable effort to operate. We have family members with arthritis who cannot handle this necessary control. I will try replacing this grip with a larger grip with more leverage. Sorry I can't do better but 2 stars is a stretch.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
