See a number of people used cut up nerfs for this but we used the rival ball ammo, just a bit of a challenge for younger ones to load. Which meant dad kept doing the reloading until they got the hang of it so be prepared for that. Used a rubber band as suggested by others for the pin because it will get lost easily otherwise. Fairly sturdy, dropped down stair case, out the 2nd floor window during full house indoor/outdoor games. Landing in the grass and thick carpet worked, not sure if it would have held up to pavement drops though, sort of doubt it. Had it for a couple of months now and they are both still working. Not really designed for trip wire action but the boys did deliver one good strike giving it to their labrador who could chase down anyone and drop it at their feet for his favorite pastime of fetch. Only worked once that way though but a good tactic none the less.
