Review on Microplane 48060 Spice Grater Black by Melissa Richards

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great consistency for a spice grinder

The spice grinder works exactly as advertised. The product feels comfortable and does not feel "cheap”. So far I've only used it with nutmeg and cinnamon, but the results have been great! I used cinnamon and nutmeg to top the waffles and some mini peaches. For the most part, it doesn't require too much effort to use. When it's empty, it can be a bit hard to see. But once you break it apart, just add whatever spices you want to grind and flavor. Nutmeg grinder, you can continuously spin it in one direction for good results. A more frequent method may be required for cinnamon, as cinnamon sticks can sometimes get stuck in the grinder. When you're done with the grinder, you can leave the spices in the grinder or, I would recommend, empty the grinder and store the leftovers in a jar. I've been using the grinder for a little over a year. month now. But if it's anything like the other Microplane products I use, it should last a while with little to no issues. I don't have much negative feedback about it. The only place for improvement I could suggest is that I would like it to come with a cleaning brush to easily clean the inside and a lid that you can put on the bottom for those who prefer to store it with spices in it. UPDATE (4/10/2021): I am updating my rating and downgrading it to 2 stars as the spice grinder broke less than a year after purchase. I was expecting this spice grinder to last longer as it wasn't used that often, once or twice a month at most. I only used it for nutmeg and cinnamon. The device can easily cope with a whole nutmeg. Problem with cinnamon I was grinding when the grinder broke (similar to some of the other reviewers here). Also, compared to nutmeg, cinnamon requires a lot more effort to see results. I think if you just use it for nutmeg you'll be fine. DO NOT use it on cinnamon unless you are willing to swap out your device immediately.
