I've been a fan of New Balance shoes for many years. Years ago I had plantar fasciitis and bought running shoes from a running store to fit them. I've bought every new version of the shoe. With a snug fit and good orthotics, I was able to avoid surgery and additional bouts of plantar fasciitis. But after this disappointing run in this shoe I will be looking for a new one. It seems that this shoe has become cheaper than its predecessors. The seams around the thumb came loose after just a few months. The heel pad, which I love, isn't as supportive as previous shoes. The padding of the insole coverall seems to have broken in just a few months (2-3) compared to 6-9 months of wearing my previous New Balance. I will look to the New Balance line for a replacement for this shoe but will not buy this style again.
