My daughter wanted a real alarm clock for Christmas 2011 so the search began. I looked at different clocks, clock radios, docking systems and so on. It had all the features I was looking for plus a small size to fit on my bedside table. Eight months of use has proven it to be a good choice and she enjoys using it. There are two alarm clocks with memory, so she has one for weekdays, the other for weekends. The alarm sound is your preference and will get louder until you turn it off. We bought her a cable so she can plug in her MP3 player for her own music, but she also uses radio presets. "Mood Light" can also be referred to as a night light and can be set to eight different levels of brightness. She used to have a night light in her room that she wanted to give up. Instead, she began using this light at maximum brightness. Over time, she realized how little she needed from a night light, and now uses it in its most dimmed mode (this is a very faint glow around the dial, dial and underside of the main case, less than most alarm clocks). If you don't turn on the mood light, the entire unit will be dark if you like a dark room. She enjoys playing with the dictaphone and all the other functions of the radio. I thought all the functions might be too complicated for a teenager with all the presets and programming, but she mastered them with ease. I just set the time and showed her how to use a few basic functions. I gave her instructions and she did the rest! We couldn't be happier with this product, highly recommend!
