A Big Hit - Beauty & Fashion

I had no idea what it was when my daughter put it on her Christmas list. I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty easy, gave her a blueprint, and the resulting squishes are a lot better quality than I expected from a DIY kit. Also, they're very cool for her because she made them. Like many other reviewers, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you watch the video on the mfger website before starting this project. Watching someone else follow the instructions in the video is so much better than just using the mediocre written instructions. They also go over a few things that can go wrong and how to mitigate them. My other big recommendation is to do this project TOGETHER with your child. b/c (1) They need patience to make it work (it's really hard for an 8 year old girl who wants it soft!) (2) Things can go wrong and it's imperative that an adult help them to think fast. How it works: - You will receive 2 small molds in different animal shapes. The shapes look like large plastic medallions. You will also receive 2 topknots and 2 finished faces. You choose a tuft of hair and a face for each animal shape and place them on the shape; There are little pegs so you know where to place everything. You close the locket with the face and hair in place. You will receive 2 packs of slime, each a different color. Each pack is a thick transparent sachet with a spout containing 2 thin sachets. Each of the thin sachets contains a different type of goo; I assume it's a paint and an activator or something? You don't open the outer pouch, simply open the two inner pouches, squeeze their contents into the unopened outer pouch, and then tape the two sticky layers together. Finally, insert the spout of the bag of mixed slime into the locket's keyhole and push the slime in. Wait. I don't remember how long; but when you open the "locket" you have a soft one. Store the medallion as a soft case. When one of us opened the inner bags with tape, the outer bag also popped out and an oily substance leaked out. Remember I said make sure an adult is helping. That's one of the things that went wrong! As I was helping, I saw the leak and was able to quickly grab the packing tape and seal the outer bag to stop the leak. We still got the perfect soft out of this attempt, even with the fool.
