TL; DR: Yes I recommend it 2 WEEK UPDATE: I deducted a star because the cable compartment broke just like I feared. It's so tight that you have to use force to pry it open, and if you use too much force or something gets stuck between the lid and case (which is hard to tell because it's so tough), it'll pop right off. It must be either metal or detachable because now I have a broken pin. To be fair, it's so tight you can still tie it up with a drawstring inside or out, and it stays as it normally is (for now). Read on for more details! I needed a new stick and I remember trying to use Qanba on a friend's house so I went with this one. Let's start with the positives: - Build Quality: While it's not that heavy at around 6-7 pounds, it feels beefy and solid. It's wide enough to sit comfortably on your knees with your knees apart. The plastic on the top that surrounds the buttons and joystick doesn't flex and gives the impression of sitting at a slot machine. Also, I think the top of the sphere and the sides where the LEDs are placed are made of some kind of metal. - Gameplay: It uses Sanwa parts so it's as responsive as you would expect. - Appearance: I personally think it looks great. While I'm not a fan of the glossy black plastic on everything I buy, it looks really nice when it's clean. The silver and black scheme is simple and elegant. The Qanba emblem on the front also looks good. The blue LEDs are for extra "trinkets" and can be configured to respond to vibrations, your actions, or simply turn on or off constantly. Features: This is a full-featured joystick. One of several. Touchpad, R3/L3 buttons, tournament lock switch, mode switch for PS3/PS4 and LS/RS and Dpad are all here. It even has an elusive 3.5mm microphone input. And of course the MINUS: Glossy black plastic: although it looks beautiful in its pure form, it shows fingerprints and smudges. So be prepared to wipe it down frequently with a microfiber cloth. I'm not sure how scratch resistant the plastic is but I suspect it will eventually get scratched and after a while it won't look good at all. There are 6 screws that look old from the front so they can be replaced but I'd rather see companies just stop using shiny black plastic on things you always touch! But that's an opinion, so if you like it, ignore it. Wire and Separation: The lid is very tight, difficult to open and I'm afraid of breaking it at some point. The wire isn't braided either, as the description says, but it's not that bad. - LED Lights - While they feel nice and look great, you can't see them when they're on because they're hidden on the sides. It's quite a lot for other people to see. I like that they don't bother me, but since I can turn them off if they bother me, I'd like to see them while I'm playing. Touchpad: Works for the most part, but doesn't seem to respond to touch. It takes a few taps for it to recognize left or right pad input to reset my character in Street Fighter V training mode. Not the worst, but I think it's still worth mentioning. - Function keys: As long as the keys work well, I don't care about their placement. They are all lined up on the front of the stick and are the same size. I would prefer if they removed the options and share buttons from others and not placed them next to them. I believe that even after becoming fully accustomed to the joystick, mistakes are still being made when pressed. Portability: Unless it's a heavy stick, there's no grip like the cheaper Crystal or shoulder straps like the Mad Catz. So when you go to tournaments you have to carry it under your arm, in your backpack or somewhere else. That's unfortunate. -Modding: Although it already has Sanwa parts, it would be nice to have easy access to the inside of the stick. Opening will void the warranty. Even after the cons, I recommend this joystick. It's easy to use, sits well on your lap and has a microphone jack!
