Took a chance on this skirt as even the 4 star reviews mentioned some pretty serious issues. I inspected the skirt closely after unbuttoning it and found no major problems. The stitching was strong and durable. The ends were done. The fabric seems to be quite durable and even withstood 32 flights of stairs. The white is very clear, but yes, it even shows through with the overlay underneath. But what is white clothing not? Was very wrinkled out of the box but considering they had to roll it up to give you the lowest possible postage cost this is to be expected. Nothing will fix a little ironing or hanging in a hot shower. There were a few threads sticking out from the bottom edge, just scraps stuck to the typewriter. I pulled them out and my skirt is still intact. There are a couple of places where the gathering or crease at the top of the layer is a little silly by machine. but unless you examine every inch of every seam, it's imperceptible. The belt is pretty thick. There is a drawstring to tighten. My string was solid all around with lots of extra sag. I have a 26 waist at 5ft 4in and it fits perfectly. The length when worn on the hip is slightly longer with a bit of stretch which is perfect. The skirt is very wide and catches the air nicely. I can pocket the sections and still have a little more to turn. Rock says dry cleaning only. In fact, no one will. Not me. I would recommend not letting it float in the wash unless you have a stirrer or if you have a dyed color. I intentionally bought mine in white to avoid color bleed. I had a dress like this and trying to fix a color without knowing how it was originally dyed is a nightmare. However, it was the perfect prize for me to take the risk so I could learn to dye my own skirt. If this is a success I will definitely be back for new white skirts.
