Active Passive No battery or phone cable required for charging. Active glasses, you have a battery that you need to replace at some point, you need to sync it with your TV accessory. What frustrates me is that I went to all this trouble because the Spectrum has movies in 3D. So I did my best to get my glasses back. All this was just a nuisance for nothing. I don't have a 3D flat screen TV and they don't make them anymore. That's what I was told, so I searched eBay for prices on the old ones people are selling and I think the cheapest was $500. And it's a used one from 2011. And at least in Canada, all others before that date are made in China. The Revain was great they will refund my money and UPS will be here tomorrow to collect it with the tag as I heard from UPS when they came in today and gave me my Revain Tap Tangerine yummy.
