Someone else mentioned this, but it's worth repeating - the 5GHz band is bad. I bought this because I live in an apartment complex with a saturated 2.4GHz frequency. 5GHz should solve this problem, but I can barely get a signal in a room. As long as you have line of sight and are within a reasonable range (maybe 20ft?) it will work fine. As a result, I went back to 2.4GHz, which actually performs better than my previous access point. The range for 2.4GHz is pretty weak too, but I agree as the smaller radius makes it more geographically restricted for people trying to wage war - plus it covers my apartment decently. I mean, I know 5GHz has wall penetration issues, but I didn't realize it was that bad. Overall, this AP is orders of magnitude better than my previous one, but not quite what I was hoping for. It was cheap and did the job, so I gave it 4 stars.
