I bought these shoes specifically for water aerobics. The material in this shoe reacts with chlorine or other chemicals and then emits an extremely strong odor. I don't have a sensitive nose and the slight smell of chlorine doesn't bother me, but that smell was awful. I washed them in the washing machine and dried them thoroughly. I still couldn't leave them in the house because the smell permeated several rooms. In addition, the material is quite faded. I could take it because I ended up using them in the pool. But the smell was different. I had to give them up.
