Outstanding utility and value

The Apple Pencil is the best stylus accessory for the iPad, but if like me you're only spending $300 on your iPad, the idea of spending a third of that price on an accessory seems overpriced . Luckily, the Logitech alternative is a great solution for those of us who want Apple Pencil features at no extra cost. grip than the Apple Pencil. Also, this shape doesn't roll or shift as easily as the Apple Pencil. I also like the charging implementation better than the 1st gen Apple Pencil as you don't have to worry about damaging the stylus by awkwardly placing it in an iPad. All you have to do is plug it into the standard lighting connector that comes with your iPad. The main disadvantage of Crayon is its incompatibility. Crayon only works with iPad 6th generation, iPad Air 3rd generation and iPad Mini 5th generation. This incompatibility bug is also related to cases. Most iPad cases with dedicated Apple Pencil slots/compartments will not fit in the Crayon. I haven't found any cases with built-in slots made specifically for the Crayon, but I've heard that Logitech offers one on their website. I cannot confirm the accuracy of this claim as I have chosen to use a separate pen holder for my pen. I've seen replacement nibs on Logitech's website currently cost $15 and last about as long as an Apple Pencil. In terms of functionality, the Crayon is just as responsive as the Apple Pencil. Basically, you get all the features of the Apple Pencil except for the pressure sensitivity. If you're an artist, designer, or something similar, you'll need to switch to an Apple Pencil or get used to constantly changing the thickness settings in every app you're going to use. While you'll see Logitech's advertised "tilt feature" as a means of going from a thin line to a thicker line, I haven't been able to consistently enable the feature in my use, as it worked sometimes and didn't work in others. In the end I gave up. If you're a student, professional, or anyone else who needs to take digital notes, highlight parts, and/or add handwritten notes, this is a great, cost-effective choice. You get 75% of the Apple Pencil's functionality for about 60% of its price. You also get a product that is easier to charge and cheaper to maintain. If you can live with the incompatibility issues you'll encounter when using this offering and don't need pressure sensitivity for your workflow, I'd recommend the Logitech Crayon to any other Apple Pencil alternative. However, if you're investing in the Apple ecosystem or want to make sure you get access to all future features of the iPad operating system from day one, spending an extra $40 on an Apple Pencil is the way to go.

Pros
  • Write and draw naturally without fear of missing a line or detail.
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine
