My 14 year old son had to have a expensive and large backpack when school started.he's since changed his mine researched Walmart himself and had to have this backpack. Of course I indulged hi (probably way too much), but he loves it. We can't afford a laptop to utilize that portion of the backpack but he loves it otherwise. So not the style "mom" would have guessed, so it's January and this is his 3rd backpack. Looks like 3rd times a charm. The backpack seems very well made,sturdy enough we might get an extra year out of yours. Being a teenager, that could change at any time. Would definitely recommend to students who utilize their locker and aren't carrying 50lbs of textbooks, binders n supplies.
