Two Seagates fell down (1.5Tb - ST31500341AS and 160Gb - ST3160215AS), the first of which did not even live up to the end of its warranty (it worked 25206 hours, and the second 45488 hours), so I urgently had to look for a replacement. Bought a WD30EZRX. - With some confusion I read some of the reviews written here. My experience is below. - The disk is cold enough. Nearby were two Seagates, whose temperature was 39 and 41 degrees, this model had a maximum of 31 (the computer almost does not turn off). - I immediately turned off the head parking using the WDIdle3 utility - there are a lot of instructions on the Internet, since for the first day of operation the counter showed 521 parking lots. The default value was 8 seconds. Turned it off completely and there was no more extra parking. - Connected in AHCI mode, how to install the driver so that Windows can see it - Google to help, done in half a minute. - I use GPT as the partition table. - The copy speed is very good. I didn’t specifically measure it, but on large files higher than 100Mb / s, it definitely happened. On many small files, of course, much lower. I did not notice any visual decrease in the speed of work compared to the previous screws with 7200 rpm. - The rumble of rotation is not noticeable at all, but the crunch of heads _sometimes_ is heard. Although personally this crunch does not annoy me at all, unlike the rumble of rotation (which is why I took 5400 rpm, not 7200). Compared to the two Seagates that stood before, it is much more “soft”. - As for reliability, we'll see. I used to use both WD and Seagate and many others. With WD was only a good experience.
