I wanted something that would be suitable for both international travel and weekend trips close to home. For the latter, I needed to be more organized. There's nothing worse than eating a campfire steak at night and having infected/inflamed gums in the morning because I forgot to floss. I was referring to the basic "shaving kits" we had in the military in the 1980's. It turned out to be about the same size and shape. It is, but with extra pockets and compartments. I'm not sure I'd have that many pockets and compartments if I designed it myself, but I can find uses for most of them. When traveling internationally, the 3-pocket side compartment is a good place for 3 travel bottles of Dawn mouthwash, shampoo and dishwashing liquid. Dishwashing detergents are actually primarily intended for washing clothes. it is focused and versatile. Anyway, I love the size and shape of this bag.
