I've had it happen once or twice when playing (very infrequently) and I've wondered if my Chinese bluetooth, the origin of which is a mystery to science. Not using Steam to configure means more work for you. In-game button hints for the A, B, X, and Y joysticks will be enabled if Steam configuration is used.
