Imagine reading all the hiking shoe reviews and they all say great things. They are not the color you like, but as this is a great pair of shoes, order a different color. You try them on and they fit your feet perfectly; a bit bulky and heavy, but more comfortable than most hiking boots the first time. They carry them around the house and break them in a little. They wear them for a quick 8-mile hike in the Catskills; What a great place to end up breaking them, isn't it? Varied terrain and right distance, not too long. NOT CORRECT. The hike was the longest 8 miles I have ever walked in my life. When running uphill, my right leg started rubbing my back a little. It's okay, I've planned ahead and brought big patches, sometimes that's normal. Arriving uncomfortably at the top, it suddenly starts to rain. Good thing I have those waterproof hiking boots, right? Well it's a joke! Within minutes my feet were completely wet and my toes started slipping in my boot. This is the most uncomfortable thing when trying to ski down a steep mountain with mostly rocky terrain! As I sloshed down the mountain and through the bushes, I felt uncomfortably cold. My toes kept sliding forward towards the front of the boot and I was in total agony the whole way back. My toes were bleeding. I walked so slowly that my boyfriend had to leave me and meet me later. Also, the shoes kept coming off and I was afraid of spraining my ankle. The boots were true to size and laced correctly. I wore matching and comfortable hiking socks. These boots put me in a very dangerous situation! I could have gotten hypothermia from wet feet at that altitude! And by slowing me down so much, my time travel has tripled! Not a happy tourist! Don't always believe what you read in reviews or product descriptions! Any slightly experienced hiker who accumulates a decent mileage will never settle for that! I send them back wet and covered in mud. I had such high hopes for her! You completely ruined our day and my legs are bleeding in multiple places. I wanted to cry all the time. When I got to my car I cried with relief and then ripped it off. I had to warm up in the car for an hour before driving home because my feet were so cold and sore. That should never have happened! What a disappointment! (Update: I had an infection in the back of my foot from the shoes cutting my leg and had to take antibiotics)
