Love this Homespun Yarn! It's so soft and beautiful, especially in a simple delicate stitch pattern. I use Pearl to make a baby blanket for those who like neutral colors and it's perfect especially for a girl. The yarn has a subtle sheen, like a pearl, that is just beautiful when the light hits it. However, I would use these as an outdoor blanket, so not as a reception or crib blanket (unless the baby is in pajamas) but more as a stroller/car blanket where the blanket doesn't directly touch the baby's skin. It's soft but still a bit hard for a kid. That's why I'm making myself an Afghan dress too lol. The variety/color selection is great too. And I like how the bright colors blend into each other, the changes are gradual and it looks beautiful. I have a few select colors that I plan to purchase for future projects. There are a few things to note: 1) Although this yarn does not shed, some colors have pile (e.g. 236 - Sky Stripes). Whilst this can enhance the beauty of the yarn/work (looks more mottled, good for cloaks, shawls etc.) the brightness/intensity of the colors can be toned down, especially if the stitch is large/loose. 2) The texture of the yarn is bulky, which requires extra control, especially depending on the stitch, so some do not recommend this yarn for beginners. I don't think it matters, just make sure you have a K hook or more depending on how tight/loose your stitch is and check the stitch pattern you plan to use to make sure it works. It literally took me 6 attempts at the Celestial color before I found a pattern where the yarn didn't lose its luster and shine. This is an absolutely beautiful mix of teal, turquoise, blue, purple, deep pink and light yellow/green and finer stitches hold both colors best otherwise the texture will become softer and saltier as you work with it. Still pretty, just a different look to look out for when using it. Interestingly, I haven't experienced this with Pearl, so it varies from color to color. Home spinning has become one of my yarn options when I'm looking for chunky yarns. I highly recommend it.
