User must be able to open bucket without pedal. Pedal access is not always possible in confined spaces, such as a small bathroom. The lid is difficult to open with fingers as there is no jagged surface around the perimeter of the lid to lift. I had this problem in the bathroom and solved it by gluing a 4" x 1/2" strip of black hard rubber. to the front edge of the bucket. This became my gripping surface to lift the bucket lid. I found it easier to lift the lid while sitting on the toilet than trying to press the pedal. Another annoyance is the clanking sound the lid makes when closing as the metal of the lid meets the metal of the bucket. I fixed this by gluing a piece of foam rubber to the front edge of the bucket to soften the contact between the lid and the bucket. Aside from these minor flaws, I found the bucket to be very practical, easy to clean and took up little space.
