I got this after my six year old slipped in the shower. Our tub floor gets slippery once there's soap on it. And I sometimes shower with my baby and had been worried about falling while holding her.The mat comes tightly rolled with instructions for how to use it. I unrolled and re-rolled the opposite way for a while to help it lay flat.It also comes with a very, very strong smell. I aired it out for almost two weeks outside and unfortunately the smell is still there. If we leave the bathroo door closed, the whole bathroom smells. I really dislike it.I used it for the first time yesterday. Before putting it down I rinsed it off in warm water, it gets really flexible when it's warmed up so it was very easy to stick down. It fits really well in my tub, and I found it to be really nice and non-slip. The instructions say to rinse it off after use so when I was done showei I pulled it up, rinsed it off and hung it to dry. It might seem like a lot of bother to do that, but I can see how you'd get all sorts of soap scum and hairs and stuff built up on it if you didn't rinse and dry it. It would get nasty really quick I think.Overall, it's a good mat. It stays put and is grippy enough to keep everyone safe.Because of the smell, I will *never* put it down while anyone takes a bath. I don't want any of us sitting and soaking in whatever chemicals are creating that smell.Basically, it works and I will use it. But I am also going to look for something made of safer materials, as I really did want this for bathtime for my children as well as showers. If I find something better, I'll be replacing this. Overall, for eleven dollars it's a decent purchase. But I wouldn't recommend it due to toxicity concerns (the smell really is that bad). I'm surprised more reviews don't mention it.
