Update: Great news. After leaving a 3 star rating below, I was contacted by the seller/manufacturer. I assumed the difficulty in opening/closing the probe was intentional. Apparently this was unintentional and they are working on improving it. Without any action on my part, a new thermometer showed up in the mail today. Concerned that I was unhappy with the original, the company sent me one that is MUCH EASIER to open and close. Now we love it. My original review didn't mention that it has a talk function. For my visually impaired husband and my own aging eyes, the temperature reading is great. Old Review: Works well and quickly, but the probe is a bit difficult to open and close, so it's not our favorite. Seems to take accurate, quick readings with more gauges.
