I don't know how they make these things so cheap (robots and slaves?) but this is for measuring REALLY tiny things. He's built like a tank and will no doubt outlive me. On a very practical note; I also have an inch version of this (or a very similar one) and use it all the time to measure string widths on guitars and basses. They are measured in inches and such a device is ideal for measuring them. Is that a .010 E string? or a .011 E string? Take a micrometer and see! I prefer digital. i am more precise
