After we bought our first house, I decided I needed some solid cookware. We've always bought dishes from retailers like Walmart. Yes, tableware has always been much cheaper, but for a long time it was not enough. Now that we were in our new home, I wanted something that I thought would last a while, but something that wouldn't ruin the little bank we had left after investing $40,000 at closing . After reading many reviews and finding a respectable deal, we settled on Cook's Standard. At first glance when I received the package I was disappointed at the apparent lack of size compared to my current (now former) pot and pan set. . I don't know what it was, but they seemed smaller. However, after cooking a few dishes with them, I found that they contained just as much food as my old dishes. They distribute the heat much more evenly and rarely burnt food/sauce etc. sticks to them. (I know, user error, but still). With my old utensils, I often had burn marks on the bottom of the pot, even when simmering gently. Just not with these villains. Another positive point is the optics. These pots and pans wash up very well and have a nice shiny/mirror finish. I'm a guy, sort of a masculine man, and yes, I cook, but I really like how they look after washing. I literally leave two pots and an 8 quart pot on the stove after they have eaten, peeled. They look so good on my Fridgedaire Gallery record. For those of you who are hesitant, or even for those of you on a tight budget. This is a great capture set. Yes, you pay more than when you enter Walmart. However, you don't have to replace them anytime soon. Their quality has not deteriorated in 2 years of ownership. They look and cook the same as they did when I bought them.
