Bought this kit to make hands for my 12, 7 and 6 year olds. This kit contains everything you need to make a beautiful cast for a lifetime! Level 1 foam mixes easily, turning purple at first and turning blue as it hardens. You only have about 4 minutes before it turns blue, so make sure you've discussed what position you want before doing the mix. I also recommend applying hand cream as it is very easy to remove. I was worried my kids would sit still but although they moved a little it was perfect. The foam will expand and help hold them in place as they cure. As soon as it turned blue my kids moved their hands and they were very clean. We mixed together a large Step 2 bag that fit all of their hands. Have a spatula handy as this mixture will harden very quickly. Be sure to tap the bucket lightly to dislodge any bubbles. There was an extra pocket for step 2, so we could easily do 3 kids + 1 adult hand with this set. Make sure, that any leftovers from step 2 are washed out and not down the drain! I'm honestly surprised how little chaos this project made, much cleaner than I expected! We waited about an hour to remove the foam from the cast. We knocked over the bucket and all the contents fell out. The foam comes off easily in small pieces, just be extra careful with your fingers! Some of the foam was difficult to remove from the small pieces between the arms, but the kit includes a wooden hook that helps a lot. Silver and gold paint are included but I prefer white and plan on keeping it that way. I am simply amazed at the quality of this handcrafted cast. I see every detail and fingerprint of each of my children. They appear to be very hard and durable, but should still be treated with great care.
