Our friend told us about the Tidy Cat Breeze litter system. She liked it so much that we decided to give it a try. We bought two trays, mats and a few bags of stuffing. Our cat has adapted well to the new box. However, within a week we noticed that our cat (3 years old) was eating the pellets. At first we thought this was an isolated case and weren't too concerned about it. About a month after installing the system, our cat became very ill. She was lethargic, slept a lot, had little energy. Our vet drew lab tests as we were concerned it might be feline leukemia or some other type of cancer. All tumor markers were negative. She returned anemic and had a swollen liver and spleen. Our vet didn't think the feces could be a contributing factor, but I wasn't convinced. I started reading a few stories about families who had sick cats after using Tidy Cat. I decided to go back to our old toilet system and remove all pellets from our home. Within a week she was back to normal with no signs or symptoms of illness. Could this be a coincidence? Maybe. However, I'm going with my intuition here. When you transition to this litter, watch your feline friends on s/s. I assume it only affects some cats.
