At first my Mac (running High Sierra) didn't recognize the device. However, one day I plugged it directly into my computer instead of using multiple USB ports and it worked right away. Does a good job transferring files from my computer to an external hard drive. The transfer speed is a bit slow, but to be honest I transferred very large photo files. I've had it for a little over a week and use it every day. It easily accepts ATA IDE drives as well as SATA drives. No hot-swap hard drives, gizmos have problems with that. The USB connection cable could be longer, but if you are comfortable around your computer, you will be happy. It is practical that there is a power button on the back. Mine arrived securely packaged from the manufacturer. This is another Chinese product so I doubt how long the machine will last. It seems the Chinese don't export their best stuff. But at this price, with intermittent use like me, I think it will be enough.
