I keep the pan on low heat while I knead the dough, spraying it with sand just before it's done. The emoji look great when the pan is hot enough and there is some oil on it. It's a thick pan, so if it's not hot enough and not greased enough, the pancakes will turn pale with faded emojis. Never had a problem with sticking or flipping. Cleaning only requires a quick rinse, but is also dishwasher safe. I would recommend a batter dispenser to avoid a mess, unless you have serious scooping skills, it's difficult to pour the batter without spilling it.
