They are clear and appear to STAY clear (unlike some plastics). They have a valve that closes the plate once inserted. Unlike a ziplock bag, the tear strip hides the adhesive strip that keeps the flap closed. You can always open and close it so far. One trick I learned was to put the record in, fold the tab over before removing the tear strip, open the tab which was now folded where you want it, remove the strip and refold the tab over the to fold the envelope to seal it. . . . Very easy. I bought more as I found I need 100+.
