Review on Gibraltar Mailboxes Universal Mounting PLMB0060 by Jake Mccallum

I received this to mount a Gibraltar Tuff Body post box on a 4x4 post and it was intimidatingly flimsy and very difficult to attach to the post box. : Tuff Body Mailbox is VERY heavy; he weighs about 20 kilos. This PLMB0060 mounting plate may not have been designed to carry that much weight and be stable, so it could have been used with a lighter mailbox. However, after I completed the installation, the box rocked back and forth on the rack. as if it were mounted on a piece of rubber. I stabilized it by screwing some heavy duty shelf brackets to the shelf below and everything is fine now. The mounting plate also didn't fit properly in the box. I used the long screws that come on the sides and needed a set of spacers (two included instead of four). With the spacers in their little slots, the panel was too wide to fit under the box and I had to pry A LOT to get it all together. Also, using half the spacers will result in the box being slightly off-center on the rack, but that doesn't bother me; just know. Finally, the mounting screws used for side mounting are too long to be used without spacers; they get stuck on the sides when you put them on, so I had to replace them with shorter ones. I could insert screws through the bottom of the box into the panel instead of using the side mounting method, but I doubt the stability would be any different. Also, I don't want capscrews in the bottom of my mailbox. I bought this platter because it said 'Universal' and I expected the platter to fit in YOUR drawer AND hold it securely, but if I have to do it again I'll get something else.
