Great idea if it works

I bought this because I was upgrading the receiver in the garage and I could use the optical out on my garage computer to listen to music, in the second garage I have a category 5 extension cord coming out of a 3mm plug or RCA input to send the signal to my other garage. I bought this J-Tech to take an optical signal and split it up so my new receiver would keep the optical input, but I could also split the analog signal to send to the rest of my audio systems. The problem was that when this arrived the optical output worked fine but I could never get the 3mm or RCA analog output to work. Even removing the optical output and simply plugging the analog output into any input port wouldn't give me a working analog output signal. I even tried the RCA digital input and still couldn't get the analog signal to work, so I assumed this unit was broken and I had to send it back. analog signal while it is not even necessary to have this device or switch to an optical Y-connector and then to an optical-to-analog converter. So I solved my problem with the options I had on hand, but if I couldn't use the parts I already had on hand, I would replace the defective device I had because the concept of this device is a optical signal receives and separates it. It's fantastic at both analogue and optical outputs simultaneously and as far as I can tell the signal quality hasn't degraded going through this splitter. As such, I still recommend this switch if it's your only option.

Pros
  • Built-in DAC supports stereo audio formats up to 192kHz; For analog audio output, the input must be SPDIF audio mono or stereo
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
