I was a little nervous at first about buying a non-Nikon brand but so far I'm very happy. I read a lot of reviews before buying and for the price you can't beat it. I can't compare it to Nikon SB and I'm not a pro, but this flash works fine. It works with all Nikon functions, the recycle time is good, it can move up, down, left and right, forward and backward and has a lot of choice. The bounce flash works well, aim it at the ceiling and even in a room with the lights off it produces good photos without the harshness of the built-in flash. The only downside is that it's a bit big/bulky. And some parts of it feel a little flimsy, like the battery cover, but I'd say that anyone looking for a decent backup, or want a decent flash but don't want to lose a few hundred, this seems like a good choice .
