TL;DR at the end. EDIT BELOW (10/18/18) I use an XBOX One X and come from using the Turtle Beach Stealth 500X (connected with popsicle sticks and duct tape) for the past 4+ years which was a fully wireless controller but included a USB dongle XBOX connected. This is what I use for my basic audio quality comparisons. First impressions: 1. They appear to be decent headphones but I was expecting the whole band to be metal. There appears to be a metal frame around the cans, but once they reach the hinge where the headband extends, I'm pretty sure it's all plastic. They fit well but feel heavy. The bonus travel case is good. The volume controls and buttons feel weak. I'm very cautious and don't see this as a problem for me, but I was expecting the mute buttons to be metal and have a little less wobble/gid. They were very easy to assemble. It took about 5-10 seconds.3. I played 3 games for a total of about 3 hours: COD Black Ops 4 Battle Royal, PUBG and Forza Horizon 4. I had audio dropouts in every game, about every 2-3 minutes. Sometimes more often, sometimes less often, but on average every few minutes. Sometimes it's half a second, sometimes a second, sometimes a few seconds or more. This is the killer in the royal battle. You just have to wait for the sound to recover. The shooters sounded great, as did Forza, but I'd like to tweak the sound. Definitely would like to have separate sound profiles for shooters, racing games, etc.4. They sound very good and loud. At least they seem louder than the Stealth 500x. I use both with Dolbey Atmos and feel like I hear better with the LS35x, direction and overall. Maybe it's placebo, but I'll keep checking. Pros: *Seems to be of good quality, but over time I'm worried about the straps and headband.*Great and loud sound. (I only tested with Dolbey Atmos) Good directivity. I find it better than the Stealth 500x. * Easy to connect to the console. * 100% wireless. If you turn off the console, they will turn off as well as the controller. Cons: * Too many disconnects (probably a problem for me and many others unless there is an instant fix) * No bluetooth. Cannot connect to phone to control headset or play sound from mobile device. (It's 2018 and they've been delayed so long it's a big miss as most new mobile devices are dropping the 3.5mm jack. Wired operation doesn't matter if your phone doesn't have a 3.5mm jack. mm jack *No equalizer - a preset is a preset While it sounds good it doesn't work for all games Turtle Beach had presets preloaded or you could connect to a PC and set up personal presets for different game genres you gave each sounds vary by genre from .TL;DR: Sound and build is good but too many audio dropouts No EQ Waited a long time not sure if I want to wait for the firmware update Audio dropouts can be a problem breaker EDIT (10/18/18) Do not buy these I used them for another 2 hours after trying all the troubleshooting tips provided by LucidSound ba to allow re-pairing with XBOX. Nothing works and now they shut down several times a minute. Maybe a firmware update can fix it, but with the pre-order, delays, lack of information/communication from LucidSound and how the launch has gone, I don't think this company can provide a quick firmware update. and even if they could, it would actually solve the problem. Even 1 audio clip is not acceptable. These are constantly being cut off. It's like they turn off every time you move your head. For anyone who looks at them and says that cutouts don't matter much, they're not an avid gamer. Calls, beeps and direction detection are all in the games I play, PUBG, COD Blackout and Destiny. Shame on LucidSound for sending them without corrections like this. There should be no quality control. I couldn't be more disappointed after waiting so long and receiving a defective product. They come back for something reliable.
