Ordered these to provide some mood and safety lighting at our camper this summer. Despite any of the negative reviews, these are great. Any one whom couldn't get these to work, probably doesn't understand electricity or how these work. They are certainly not rocket science. When cutting, cut at marked locations. Each connector has two prongs and the rope has two wires running down the side. Push the connector contacts onto/into the wires and tighten up the connector. Plug them in, IF they don't come on, UNPLUG and try again. So long as the connector prongs make contact with the wires inside the rope, they have to work. PLEASE never cut or attempt the connections with them plugged in. Although they are low voltage and won't kill you, they'll let you know there is current there. Still very SAFE and easy for anyone with an ounce of common sense or mechanical/electrical ability.UPDATE: After only 3 months these lights begin to cloud over and some 3 foot section quit working. Having said that, these were on every night and exposed to a good deal of sun during the day, A shorter strand of the same lights which was under a canopy, it still working fine and just as clear as when I put them up.
