The slip did have a bad smell to it. After I let it air out in the guest room for 4 days, the smell went away entirely. The ring made into the slip is amazing if you have a heavy dress. The ring in the slip kept my dress in the front from dragging (no alterations) and filled the dress out. I did have undergarments on that cover my skin, so I did not feel any scratchiness. I would suggest that if you have a light weighted dress, this slip might not work well for you. This slip kept my dress from drowning my legs, so I was able to move freely. When I sat down, the weight of my dress kept the ring down as well ( a light weight dress probably wouldn't do this).Overall I grade this product an A+.Just make sure you give the slip a few days to air out.
