Smaller quality wood pins (rather than metal which I personally find too slippery) are hard to find but they are great! Be aware that the 9 inch measurement INCLUDING the needle is not just a cable measurement. Despite its small size, the cable is still flexible. It's a bit awkward at first and it definitely takes some practice to get used to the size and shape as you work, but in my opinion they're still easier to work with than a pair of garter pins. You don't have to worry about dropping it :) The price is reasonable too, so if you're curious about a DPN alternative, this one is worth a try! I bought these for a specific snood pattern that was too small for my usual 16" circulars, but I think they could be useful for many projects: socks, hat tops, various other small details. Definitely recommended!
